Making a Wooden Pen

This class guides you through the process of making a wooden pen, from material selection to assembly and finishing.

You will turn your own ballpoint pen on a lathe. Pen turning is a great introduction to lathe projects. You will also use the drill press and band saw.

This is a one-on-one class. You will choose a wood blank and get to work sizing and drilling it to prepare for turning on the lathe. You will learn all the different parts of the lathe and safe operation. We will be using carbide chisels which are a preferred beginner style. We will shape, sand, and polish your wooden pen to a smooth work of art.
