Using Essential Woodworking Tools

 

This class provides structured training for safely and effectively using a table saw, miter saw, band saw, planer, jointer, router, and orbital sander. 

Each participant will learn safe operation of all the major tools in the shop, their range of uses, and have a chance to operate the tools in a safe and controlled environment. 

 

Safety glasses and ear plugs will be available, feel free to bring your own. 

You will not leave with a finished product, but you will leave with the confidence to work on your own.

Making a Wooden Pen

This class guides you through the process of making a wooden pen, from material selection to assembly and finishing.

You will turn your own ballpoint pen on a lathe. Pen turning is a great introduction to lathe projects. You will also use the drill press and band saw.

This is a one-on-one class. You will choose a wood blank and get to work sizing and drilling it to prepare for turning on the lathe. You will learn all the different parts of the lathe and safe operation. We will be using carbide chisels which are a preferred beginner style. We will shape, sand, and polish your wooden pen to a smooth work of art.

Woodworker Wednesday

Hosted at our shop the 2nd Wednesday

of every month (6-8pm)

Woodworkers from around the community come together to discuss projects, get a behind the scenes look at projects we are currently working on and share their work with others. We also have great deals during the event on lumber and supplies for your next project.

Stop down, bring a project to show off & your favorite beverage!

cheese board classes

Cost $100/person

Class Duration 1.5 - 2 hours

Creating a Wooden Cheese Board with Wire Hardware

This class covers the process of making a wooden cheese slicing board with a wire cutter, from material selection to assembly and finishing.


You will make your own cheese slicing board using multiple tools such as the planer, table saw, drill press and orbital sander. You will learn about food-safe finishes and how to prepare a project for a finish.


You can select your wood species: Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Sapele, or some other treasure we may have at the time of your class! Boards are approximately 5.25” x 9-12” long and 1” thick.

Building a Striped Cutting Board

This class covers all the steps needed to create a striped wood cutting board, from material selection to finishing.


You will make your own cutting board using multiple tools such as the planer, table saw, router and orbital sander. You will learn about food-safe finishes and how to prepare a project for a finish.


You can select your wood species:

Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Sapele, or some other treasure we may have at the time of your class!

 

Boards are approximately 12” wide x 16” long and 1” thick.

epoxy classe
Pouring an Epoxy/Wood Charcuterie Board

This class covers all the steps needed to create an epoxy/wood charcuterie board, from material selection to finishing. Each participant will learn how to mix and pour food-safe epoxy.


You will use multiple tools such as the planer, table saw, band saw, router and orbital sander. You will learn about food-safe finishes and how to prepare a project for a finish.


You can select your wood species and the color of epoxy.  Boards are approximately 9” wide x 16” long and 1” thick.

Cost $175/person
